Community Ministry Efforts

Through the years, Outreach Ministries has made a concerted effort to find ways to meet the real needs of our community. God has blessed by bringing us into the right relationships to ask the kind of questions that go deeper than simply what we perceive as needs. This being said, God has provided mission efforts where we can meet ongoing needs. What a great way to develop relationships and build unity with your Sunday Adult Connection, small groups, families and friends! As Ambassadors for Christ, we ask you to join us!

  • Kanakuk KampOut! (First Free Advent Conspiracy 2017 Project)
The 2017 Advent Conspiracy donations are funding an outreach to the kids and families at Carman Trails Elementary school and our surrounding neighbors. Specifically, the donations are funding a second week of Kanakuk KampOut! (July 23-27) for the kids from the school who may not be able to attend without some financial assistance.
KampOut! is a Christian day camp. It will be a great week of sports and activities, but with an emphasis on the gospel. It is staffed by Christian young adults who share the love of Jesus with kids who may have no knowledge of Him. There are over 100 kids registered, and we are excited to see how God will fill our campus with kids from the neighborhood. As an added highlight, the kids from families that attend our ESL program have also been invited to attend.
You may have heard the phrase, “Get out of the pews and into the community”. This Advent Conspiracy project is designed to push us to do more than just give financially – we also need our church body to serve! Volunteer teams are being developed for this week of KampOut! and we want to encourage you to seek out ways to serve. Kelli McGill has a list of job descriptions, and we would love for you to help spread the word! People are excited, but may need a nudge. If you know of anyone who is interested in serving, let Kelli know (kmcgill@efree.org).
  • Busy Hands/Full Heart: Would please you consider joining a team of men and women that serve in South St Louis (city) to sort and organize donations for the Rise Together Resale Shop? It’s a great way to do behind the scenes ministry to the poor, lost, and lonely members of our city. They meet once or twice a month. Interested? Contact Bob or Jill Timken at bob-jill@swbell.net.
  • Rise Together Ministries Resale Shop is in need of furniture and appliances (used but in good and working condition). If you are updating your home, would you please consider donating to help the Resale Shop? For larger items, contact Pastor Worku at 314.865.2210 (leave a message and he will return your call), or send an email to risetogetherministries@gmail.com.
